Chichester At Home: a lockdown project

Soon after lockdown began, I was struggling to get groceries for my own household and for my shielding parents. It was clear that we needed a directory of local suppliers who could deliver to homes. Web designer Sara Watkins offered to build the site, and Chichester At Home was born in the space of 48 hours.

Living on the coast in West Sussex, we are surrounded by agriculture and we discovered many unsung local producers right on our doorstep. It was wonderful to be able to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, seafood, baked goods, plants and kitchen staples – all delivered.

Our website became the go-to list for local produce and was widely promoted by the local paper, our local MP and many community groups. It now features over 80 local retailers and continues to champion small businesses beyond lockdown.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Chichester At Home. Please continue to do so. Even as things open up, delivery is still the safest way to shop. And for these local businesses, it makes all the difference to get the custom.

The visual identity was created by one of my regular collaborators, the talented FilthyMedia.
